exchange items, surcharges and cashback

  1. How do I return my exchange unit for surcharge refund or cashback?
  2. Where service exchange units are purchased, you will be invoiced with a sum referred to as a “surcharge” which is in respect of the old unit that you may return to us. If the old unit is returned within 28 days from the delivery date a credit note will be issued by us in respect of the “surcharge” provided that the old unit is identical to the unit purchased and in a condition in our sole discretion that enables it to be re-manufactured.
  3. Where cash back units are purchased, the “surcharge” is already included in your purchase cost. If the old unit is returned within 28 days from the delivery date a credit note will be issued by us in respect of the “surcharge” provided that the old unit is identical to the unit purchased and in a condition in our sole discretion that enables it to be re-manufactured
  4. Where there is no “surcharge” or “Cash Back” applied to your purchase, but your item is still sold on an exchange basis the warranty will not be activated unit we have receipt of the exchange items.
  5. Steering Specialists Limited will supply and exchange unit return form and pre-paid label with every purchase. Please fill in the form and return with the unit(s). Please click here for preview. 

recon return / remanufacturing services

After you have purchased the service remove the components for remanufacture from your vehicle and drain them of any fluids. Inspect your components to ensure there is no obvious damage / excessive corrosion to the component bodies. Please also check the following.

  1. Brake Calipers, inspect the pipe fitting and bleed nipple ports to ensure there is no damage to threads, damage is 99% of the time repairable but they may be extra cost involved.
  2. Steering Racks, please remove the rack gaiters / boots and inspect the main rack bar. When water ingress has occurred, this bar and its sealing surface may be excessively corroded rendering the rack to be un-repairable. We carry a limited stock of replacement components that will incur extra charges to the service.

Once inspected, package the components securely to ensure that no damage can occur in transit. Damaged or leaking packaging can delay the delivery of the unit to us and can incur extra charges. The Package can be no longer than 100cm in length so if you’re sending a steering rack, please ensure that at least one tie arm is removed. You then have two options.

  1. We will supply you with a prepaid postage label so you can drop the package into any Local Post Office or Parcel Force Depot at your own convenience. The package will then be returned to ourselves the following day.
  2. We can arrange a courier to collect the package from you, Our Couriers will collect the parcel the following day. This collection will be anytime between 8:00 until 17:00. We cannot arrange collections at a specific time, but the package can be left in a safe place on your property.

Once we have received the components for remanufacture, they will be given a Jobcard and enter the production process. Your components will be inspected to ensure they are suitable for the remanufacturing process.

We aim to turn all component services around in 3-5 working days.

Once the work is completed, we will return the re-manufactured Units back to you.

If time is an issue (We appreciate your garage may not want their ramp out of action for a few days) Why not get SSL to remove, Reman and refit the parts for you. fitting services

Yes. We can fit our re-manufactured components at our premises in Wakefield, West Yorkshire WF4 5NW. Our Qualified Technicians will correctly diagnose faults before any work is carried out.

Most steering component jobs can be completed within the day while you wait. For Brake Calipers, especially where custom paint is being applied, Jobs generally take two days.

Postage is free to the UK Mainland only (Zone 1) (excluding the Scottish Highlands).

We will provide you with a tracking number when your order is dispatched. You will be contacted by Parcel Force via text and email with a two hour delivery window on the day of delivery.    

Returns and Refunds

At SSL we always try to make sure you are happy with your purchase, but we know that there are times when you do need to return an item. If you are unhappy with your goods for any reason, you can return your item to us.

This does not affect your cancellation rights under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

We are happy to offer a refund on unused items returned within 30 days of purchase. If the item is faulty, we will offer a refund or exchange where available. You can return your item free of charge to our premises in Wakefield WF4 5NW, or at a cost by courier or by post, depending on how you received your order. 

Returning your item by post 

Return of any products

  • You (the customer) are responsible for all postage costs for products returned under our Returns Procedure (except where the goods are faulty) unless this has been specifically agreed and confirmed in advance with the Customer Service Department.
  • Steering Specialists Limited will not accept responsibility for loss or damage of goods during transit, please ensure that the insurance cover option is taken where possible.
  • To return an item by post you will need to follow the instructions on the returns label included with your order, alternatively to help us to speed up your refund, please follow the steps below, it is very important to enclose the following information with your parcel to enable us to start processing your return within 24 hours of receipt.
    • Please ensure you state your original order invoice number, which can be found on the invoice supplied in the document wallet attached to packaging your product arrived in. Without it, your refund could be delayed.
    • Clearly state the product code, quantity, and reason for return.
  • Return your order to: Steering Specialists Limited Units 2&3 Wakefield Commercial Park, Bridge Road, Horbury Bridge, Wakefield West Yorkshire, WF4 5NW
  • Upon receipt, all products will be inspected and at our discretion, credit may be refused
  • All products incorrectly ordered will be subject to a 15% handling charge.

Warranty

  1. Subject to clause 6 and the provisions within these Terms relating to SSL Goods, each of the Goods are supplied with the benefit of a warranty given by the Goods’ manufacturers (details of which will be provided to you with the Goods or otherwise on request (“the Warranty”)provided that you comply with the conditions set out below as well as any provided with the Warranty (“Warranty Conditions”).
  2. If Goods become faulty during the period of the Warranty for reasons unconnected with your acts, omissions or misuse of the Goods or are qualifying Goods the following option may be applicable to you (subject to clause 6):
    1. notify us in writing and/or by completing a warranty claim form (including a description of the fault) and return such Goods to us. Such Goods shall be returned to the manufacturer for review and testing. Based on the manufacturers’ opinion and further subject to clauses 5 and 6, we will repair, (or at our sole option) replace such Goods with the same or superior Goods, without charge or not provide any of the aforementioned. The manufacturer’s opinion shall be final, and binding and we shall have no further liability to you. If Goods become faulty after expiry of the Warranty, we will not be held liable for any replacement or repairs that you request for such Goods. Steering Specialists Limited will not be held liable for any labour, installation and, or any other costs. Warranty covers the cost of the original purchase price only.
  3. Your sole remedy in respect of a failure of the Goods to comply with the Warranty is as set out in the Warranty Conditions.
  4. We will be afforded reasonable opportunity and facilities to investigate any claims made under the Warranty and you will if so, requested in writing by us promptly return any Goods the subject of any claim and any packing materials securely packed, and carriage paid to us for examination.
  5. We will have no liability with regard to any claim in respect of which you have not complied with the warranty claim procedure in the Warranty Conditions.
  6. The above warranty is given by us subject to us having no liability in respect of any defect arising from wear and tear, wilful damage, negligence, modification(s), tampering of the Goods, incorrect fitting of the Goods by you and/or a third party, abnormal working conditions, failure to follow our and/or the Goods’ manufacturers’ instructions (whether oral or in writing), misuse or alteration or repair of the Goods without our approval or for Goods fitted to any vehicle that is modified contrary to the vehicle manufacturer’s specifications and/or (default) factory settings. Failure to return any exchange units within 28 days from the date of delivery of your product.
